How Rambleon Birdsong leveled 8–21 on Forever

Rambleon began the record at level eight, moving between Dolanaar, Starbreeze Village, Lake Al'Ameth, and the Cleft. He picked up Seek Redemption!, Gnarlpine Corruption, the timberling errands of Sprouts and Seeds, Rellian Greenspyre, and The Relics of Wakening, and over the course of the night turned in Zenn's Bidding, A Troubling Breeze, Denalan's Earth, the timberling quests, Seek Redemption!, Gnarlpine Corruption, Twisted Hatred, and a bounty on the Gnarlpine Furbolg. Along the way he met nightsabers, webwood lurkers, gnarlpine gardeners, warriors and ursa, timberlings and their lasher sproutlings, a befouled webwood, and Xethorr the Wicked. Hazardelf and Tiamaat shared some of the ground with him, though he noted working the lake largely by himself — "alone at the lake slayin timberlings," as he put it. He closed the night at level nine, there at Lake Al'Ameth.

From Teldrassil Rambleon passed into Darnassus, his first real look at the city, moving through Warrior's Terrace, the Cenarion Enclave, the Temple of the Moon, and Craftsmen's Terrace. He picked up Tumors there and turned in Rellian Greenspyre at the Cenarion Enclave, the errand he'd carried out of the forest. Tiamaat stayed with him for the visit, which unfolded slowly, nearly two hours and three-quarters of unhurried city wandering and quest-board reading rather than any fighting. If you take the same road, the trip from Teldrassil into Darnassus and back is one any young night elf can make early.

Back in Teldrassil, Rambleon returned to the Oracle Glade and pushed out along Wellspring River and Wellspring Lake, with Dolanaar and Lake Al'Ameth still on his circuit and Darnassus passed through again along the way. He picked up Not Dead Yet, The Enchanted Glade, Darkness in the Glade, three rounds of Taming the Beast, The Great Tree Provides, The Shimmering Frond, a Kaldorei recipe, and the training of his own beast. The road cost him three deaths, at Wellspring River and the Oracle Glade, against strigid hunters, elder nightsabers, timberling tramplers and mire beasts, bloodfeather rogues, sorceresses and harpies, a webwood silkspinner, a blooming lasher, an elder timberling, Lady Sathrah, and a feral nightsaber. Bird walked beside him through it. He reached level ten at Wellspring River and level eleven at Dolanaar, where a picture marked the moment.

A brief return to Darnassus followed, barely eighteen minutes across Warrior's Terrace, the Cenarion Enclave, Craftsmen's Terrace, the Temple of the Moon, and Tradesmen's Terrace. Rambleon turned in Tumors, Training the Beast, and Tears of the Moon, and picked up Nessa Shadowsong, Return to Denalan, and Sathrah's Sacrifice to carry back out with him. A picture marks his entry into the city, and another a quiet moment in the Cenarion Enclave. It was here he set down what the city meant to him: "i really like darnassus... very calm. never overcrowded," he wrote, a small admission of what kind of place he preferred to pass through.

The next stretch carried Rambleon far across Teldrassil, through Dolanaar, Shadowglen, Aldrassil, Lake Al'Ameth, Ban'ethil Hollow and Barrow Den, the Pools of Arlithrien, and the Oracle Glade, with Darnassus crossed again between. He turned in quest after quest — Tenaron's Summons, four Crowns of the Earth, The Sleeping Druid, Druid of the Claw, The Relics of Wakening, Ferocitas the Dream Eater, Ursal the Mauler, and The Oracle Tree among them — against webwood venomfangs, timberling tramplers, oakenscowl, nightsaber stalkers, gnarlpine shaman and augurs, and a rageclaw. One death found him in Ban'ethil Barrow Den, where he also reached level twelve; level thirteen followed at the Oracle Glade. Cassidy, Aurel, Vamshi, Titania, Kaeds, Dread, Abbey, Lepoof, and Highlord all shared pieces of the road. He signed off plainly: "turning in a couple quests then turning in for the night."

Another short pass through Darnassus, ten minutes between Warrior's Terrace, Craftsmen's Terrace, and the Cenarion Enclave. Rambleon picked up Grove of the Ancients and turned in the quest simply called Teldrassil, closing the book on the long island chapter of his leveling even as its name stayed with him. A picture caught his entry into the city, now a familiar doorway rather than a new sight. It was a stop for paperwork, not adventure, the kind of brief civic errand that punctuates a hunter's longer nights in the wild, and he was back out again almost as quickly as he had arrived.

Fastest of all his stops, a single minute at Rut'theran Village, with the Veiled Sea listed alongside it. Rambleon turned in Nessa Shadowsong and The Bounty of Teldrassil there, and picked up Flight to Auberdine and the bounty quest in the same breath. There was no fighting and no death, nothing recorded but that quick exchange before the next leg of the road. It stands as the last business on Teldrassil's own soil before the flight out, brief as it was, closing one chapter of the record and opening onto a coastline he had not yet set foot on.

The flight brought Rambleon into Darkshore, where he spent eight hours ranging from Mist's Edge and Auberdine through Twilight Shore and Vale, the Grove of the Ancients, Remtravel's Excavation, Bashal'Aran, Ameth'Aran, and the Tower of Althalaxx. Auberdine kept him busy — Washed Ashore, the buzzboxes, Thundris Windweaver, the Bashal'Aran line, The Red Crystal, The Fall of Ameth'Aran, Tools of the Highborne, the Tower of Althalaxx, and The Cliffspring River all closed out in turn. Greymist raiders, coastrunners and seers met him along the shore, moonstalkers and thistle bears further in, and Blackwood windtalkers and pathfinders near the ruins. It was costly going, ten deaths scattered across Twilight Vale, Remtravel's Excavation, Mist's Edge, Bashal'Aran, and the Tower of Althalaxx, but he leveled twice even so, to fourteen in Darkshore and fifteen at Ameth'Aran, with Strafhe, Banne, and Cassidy for company along parts of it.

A nineteen-minute crossing took Rambleon back over the Veiled Sea to Rut'theran Village, with Darnassus passed through on the way. He turned in Return to Nessa there, the only business of the stop, and pictures mark both his re-entry into Teldrassil and his pass through Darnassus. No fighting is recorded, no death, just the quiet logistics of travel between a mainland campaign and the island he had started on. It reads as little more than a waypoint in the record, the kind of stop a hunter makes without much thought, already turned back toward the coast he had just left.

Back in Darkshore for nearly eight hours more, Rambleon worked the same coastline — Mist's Edge, Auberdine, Twilight Shore and Vale, the Grove of the Ancients, Remtravel's Excavation, Bashal'Aran, Cliffspring River, Ameth'Aran, and Blackwood Den. He cleared a second wave of Auberdine's errands: more beached creatures and turtles, Plagued Lands, Cleansing of the Infected, Tharnariun's Hope, For Love Eternal, WANTED: Jai'vhanel, A Lost Master twice over at Blackwood Den, and Bashal'Aran again. Tide crawlers, greymist warriors, hunters and tidehunters, Murkdeep himself, and moonstalkers and Blackwood warriors filled out the fighting. Six deaths came of it, at Twilight Shore and Blackwood Den, but he climbed two levels even so, to sixteen at Bashal'Aran and seventeen at Twilight Vale, each marked with a picture. Caerwyn, Reighna, Elentria, Softtaco, Menos, Cassidy, and Noseeum all took turns beside him.

A new zone opened before him: Ashenvale, reached in nine minutes through Maestra's Post and Astranaar, a picture marking the crossing. Rambleon turned in The Tower of Althalaxx, carried over from Darkshore, and Trek to Ashenvale itself, while picking up The Zoram Strand and On Guard in Stonetalon to take with him. Cassidy was there for the arrival. No combat is recorded for this short stretch, only the business of settling quests at two waypoints before moving on, but it marked, however briefly, his first steps into a region he had only heard of until now.

Back to Darkshore again, two and a half hours through Twilight Vale and Shore, the Long Wash, Auberdine, Bashal'Aran, Cliffspring River and Falls, Ameth'Aran, Wildbend River, the Master's Glaive, and Remtravel's Excavation. He picked up Therylune's Escape along the way. Moonstalkers, Blackwood warriors, a den mother, twilight disciples and thugs, moonstalker matriarchs, runts, and sires all crossed his path through the familiar ground. A single death found him at the Master's Glaive. Tina, Cassidy, and Papa shared the stretch with him, a small company for a long walk through country he had already crossed twice before, each pass turning up something new to fight even if the map itself held no surprises.

Rambleon pushed deeper into Ashenvale, through Maestra's Post and Astranaar to the Ruins of Ordil'Aran, the Shrine of Aessina, and Fire Scar Shrine, over an hour and a quarter. He turned in The Tower of Althalaxx once more at Maestra's Post. The fighting turned harder here: dark strand cultists and adepts, a voidwalker minion, wildthorn stalkers, ghostpaw runners, felslayers, a lesser felguard, and Ilkrud Magthrull himself. Five deaths marked the stretch, at Ashenvale, the Shrine of Aessina, and Fire Scar Shrine, the heaviest run of losses he had yet recorded in a single night's travel. Still, he reached level eighteen at the Shrine of Aessina, a picture taken at the moment alongside one marking his entry into the zone. Papa and Karis were with him through the worst of it.

A quieter hour back in Darkshore, spent moving between Auberdine, the Long Wash, and Twilight Shore. Nothing is recorded of quests taken or turned in during this pass, no level gained, no death suffered — only the company of Cassidy and Karis, walking the same stretch of coast Rambleon had crossed so many times already that night. If you take the same road, this particular hour is less a destination than a breath between the louder business on either side of it, ground covered simply because it lay between where he had been and where he needed to go next.

Two hours more in Ashenvale carried Rambleon to the Zoram Strand, Lake Falathim, the Shrine of Aessina, Astranaar, Maestra's Post, Iris Lake, and a moonwell, with Darkshore, Teldrassil, and Darnassus all passed through along the way. He picked up Journey to Stonetalon Peak, four rounds of Raene's Cleansing, Culling the Threat, another Tower of Althalaxx, Pridewings of Stonetalon, An Aggressive Defense, Unrequited Love, Researching the Corruption, and In Search of Thaelrid, turning in the Tower of Althalaxx quest, three of the Raene's Cleansing runs at the moonwell, and The Zoram Strand at Astranaar. Ghostpaw runners, saltspittle muckdwellers, wrathtail wave riders, sorceresses and razortails, wildthorn stalkers, an ashenvale bear, and saltspittle puddlejumpers and warriors filled the fighting. Three deaths came of it, at Lake Falathim and in Ashenvale generally, and pictures mark his passages into Ashenvale, Teldrassil, and Darnassus in turn.

Another pass through Darkshore, this one brief at thirty-three minutes, took him from the Veiled Sea through Mist's Edge, Auberdine, the Long Wash, Twilight Shore, Remtravel's Excavation, Twilight Vale, and the Master's Glaive, with Ashenvale and the Barrens touched along the way. A moonstalker sire was the only new foe noted, and Chud walked with him for the stretch. He said as much himself before setting out: "a long walk on the long wash is in order," and so it proved, the Long Wash itself the spine of the whole crossing. A picture marks his first entry into the Barrens, a new zone for him.

Rambleon's first real steps into the Barrens lasted nineteen minutes, through the Mor'shan Rampart, down the Gold Road to the Crossroads, and on to Thorn Hill and Honor's Stand. Hecklefang hyenas and an ornery plainstrider were the first creatures he met in this new country. One death is recorded here, his only loss in the Barrens. No quests are noted picked up or turned in during the pass; it reads as pure transit, a brief look at a region he would not properly settle into on this visit.

From the Barrens, Rambleon climbed into the Stonetalon Mountains, an hour and a half through Greatwood Vale, Camp Aparaje, Webwinder Path, Windshear Crag, Blackwolf River, Cragpool and Mirkfallon Lakes, and up to Stonetalon Peak, a picture marking the entry. He turned in On Guard in Stonetalon twice and A Gnome's Respite at Webwinder Path, and Journey to Stonetalon Peak at the summit itself, while picking up Super Reaper 6000, An Old Colleague, and A Scroll from Mauren to carry forward. Deepmoss venomspitters, Venture Co. deforesters and loggers, pridewing wyverns and consorts, a blackened basilisk, and sap beasts made up the fighting, the pridewings earning their own line in his notes: "patience is key with pridewings." He reached level nineteen at Blackwolf River, pictured in the moment, with Kancho and Cassidy for company on the climb.

A six-minute return to Ashenvale, back across the Veiled Sea to the Zoram Strand, Lake Falathim, Maestra's Post, and Astranaar, took Rambleon just long enough to turn in Pridewings of Stonetalon at Astranaar, the quest he had carried down from the mountains. A picture marks his re-entry into the zone. Nothing else is recorded of the stop, no fighting, no new business picked up — a single errand closed on the way to wherever the night would take him next, proof that not every crossing needs to be long to matter in the ledger of quests completed.

Twenty-eight minutes carried him back into Darkshore once more, through Twilight Vale and Shore, the Long Wash, Auberdine, and Remtravel's Excavation, with Ashenvale crossed on the way, a picture marking the entry. New faces appeared among the ruins this time — a cracked golem, a gravelflint scout, a stone behemoth, and a gravelflint geomancer — unlike anything he had fought on this coast before. Raín and Is were his company for the stretch. No quests are noted as picked up or completed here; it was a fighting pass pure and simple, cutting through familiar ground toward whatever waited at the excavation.

Rambleon stepped into his first dungeon, Blackfathom Deeps, reaching the Drowned Sacellum after passing through Darkshore, Ashenvale, and Teldrassil, a picture marking the entrance. He picked up Knowledge in the Deeps inside and met murkshallow snapclaws, skittering crustaceans, and blindlight murlocs there. It was not an easy introduction: two deaths are recorded, one in the Drowned Sacellum and one elsewhere in the instance. Thirty-four minutes below ground was enough to taste the place without claiming it, and a second picture caught his return to Teldrassil once the run was done. It stands alone in the record as his only trip into an instance of this kind so far.

The road took an unexpected turn toward the human lands: Stormwind City, reached by way of Elwynn Forest in twenty-two minutes. Rambleon moved through the Harbor, the Canals, Cathedral Square, the Trade District, the Mage Quarter, and the Valley of Heroes, turning in Expanding Horizons and A Scroll from Mauren, both carried a long way to reach this city. He picked up a fresh handful of business there — Making Do, Humble Beginnings, Devils in Westfall, Retrieval for Mauren, Elmore's Task, and the Gold Dust Exchange — before the night's pictures recorded his entry into the city, a marked moment in Cathedral Square, and his step back out into Elwynn Forest.

From Elwynn Forest the road ran on into Westfall, thirty-nine minutes through the Jansen Stead, Saldean's Farm, Sentinel Hill, and Stendel's Pond, with Sentinel Tower touched along the way. Rambleon turned in Westfall Stew at Saldean's Farm and picked up a long list in return: Poor Old Blanchy, The Forgotten Heirloom, The Killing Fields, Harvesting the Harvesters, The Defias Brotherhood, The People's Militia, Patrolling Westfall, and Red Leather Bandanas. Harvest watchers, dust devils, goretusks, and riverpaw brutes and bandits were the new faces he met here. One death is recorded here. Pictures mark his arrival in Westfall and his step into Sentinel Tower, the first signs of a wider world now opening up around him.

Barely two minutes at Sentinel Tower, on a path that also touched Westfall, Duskwood, and Elwynn Forest. Rambleon turned in Patrolling Westfall here, the only business recorded, and a picture marks his entry into Duskwood glimpsed in passing. No fighting, no death, nothing more than the briefest of waypoints between Westfall and wherever the road led next. It is the shortest stretch in the whole record next to the single minute at Rut'theran Village, proof that not every named place in the journal held more than a moment's pause before moving on.

Back in Stormwind for twenty-three minutes, Rambleon moved through the Valley of Heroes, the Trade District, the Canals, the Mage Quarter, the Park, the Dwarven District, Stormwind Keep, the Royal Library and Gallery, the Petitioner's Chamber, and Cathedral Square, with the Deeprun Tram touched along the way and pictured for the first time. He turned in Devils in Westfall, Elmore's Task, Reading Room, and Shelf Picked across the city's quarters, and picked up a fresh round of business — Special Delivery for Gaxim, Reading Room, Stormpike's Delivery, Underground Assault, Collecting Memories, Oh Brother..., and Shelf Picked — enough paperwork to fill the capital's halls from the keep to the library and back again.

The return to Darkshore that followed carried real weight: across Auberdine, the Long Wash, Twilight Shore and Vale, Wildbend River, Remtravel's Excavation, the Master's Glaive, Blackwood Den, Mist's Edge, and the Veiled Sea, with Ashenvale and Teldrassil crossed between, Rambleon turned in Making Do and Escape Through Force at Auberdine, and picked up The Powers Below and Therylune's Escape to carry onward. Grizzled thistle bears, a giant foreststrider, a moonstalker sire, Blackwood warriors, ursa and shaman, and twilight disciples and thugs filled the fighting, costing him one death at Twilight Vale. Then, at the Master's Glaive, he reached level twenty — a milestone marked with its own picture, alongside others recording his entry into Darkshore and Teldrassil and a quiet moment taken on the Veiled Sea. Val, Cassidy, Andria, Fanaandel, Koiya, and Artemisa all shared some part of the hour and twenty-three minutes it took.

Now level twenty, Rambleon spent nine minutes in Stormwind, through the Harbor, the Canals, Cathedral Square, the Cathedral of Light, Stormwind Keep, the Royal Library, and the Dwarven District. He turned in Speaking of Fortitude at the Royal Library and picked up Brother Paxton in the same stop, before pictures recorded his entry into the city once more and his step down into the Deeprun Tram. It was a short visit, business attended to quickly by a hunter with somewhere else in mind, the tram waiting to carry him somewhere new.

A single minute, the whole of it spent inside the Deeprun Tram itself, and a picture to mark it. Rambleon had not ridden one of these before, and said so plainly: "1st train ride." Nothing else is recorded of the crossing — no fighting, no quest, no company named — just the fact of the tram, and a night elf hunter taking note of something he had never experienced before this stop. It is the briefest entry in the whole eleven nights, but it earned its own line all the same.

Eight minutes took Rambleon through Ironforge for the first time, Tinker Town, the Military Ward, the Great Forge, the Hall of Explorers, the Forlorn Cavern, the Mystic Ward, and the High Seat, a picture marking his arrival. He turned in An Old Colleague at Tinker Town and The Powers Below at the Forlorn Cavern, both carried a long way from where he had picked them up, and left with Save Techbot's Brain!, Find Bingles, The Day After, and Ineptitude + Chemicals = Fun in hand. It was a short visit to a city built by a people he had only just met, and he moved on quickly, the quests themselves the real souvenir of the stop.

Rambleon returned once more to Ashenvale, fifty-four minutes through Astranaar, the Shrine of Aessina, Greenpaw Village, Lake Falathim, the Zoram Strand, and the Veiled Sea, a picture marking his entry. He turned in Therylune's Escape at the Shrine of Aessina and An Aggressive Defense at Astranaar, quests that had followed him across several earlier visits to the zone. A whole clan of new enemies met him at Greenpaw Village: ghostpaw runners, wildthorn stalkers, and the foulweald totemics, pathfinders, warriors, den watchers, ursa, and shaman that made up its defenders. One death is recorded here. Rip, Ialach, Alourah, and Sertuvius shared the fighting with him, a fuller company than he had kept on some of his earlier passes through this same ground.

The climb back into Stonetalon Mountains was long and hard, two hours and nine minutes across Stonetalon Peak, Mirkfallon Lake, the Charred Vale, Webwinder Path, and Sun Rock Retreat, with Ashenvale, Darkshore, Stormwind City, and Elwynn Forest all touched along the wider road, each crossing pictured in turn. Rambleon picked up Reclaiming the Charred Vale and turned in Special Delivery for Gaxim at Webwinder Path, a quest carried all the way from Stormwind. The fighting here was fierce: sap beasts, antlered coursers, a blackened basilisk, bloodfury ambushers, harpies and windcallers, a rogue flame spirit, charred ancients, and singed basilisks, and it cost him seven deaths across the Charred Vale, Stonetalon Mountains, and Mirkfallon Lake, the heaviest toll of any single stretch in the record. Cassidy, Arktalis, and Falsila stood with him through it, the company he most needed on the worst ground he had yet crossed.

The record closes in Westfall, an hour and thirty-seven minutes through Saldean's Farm, Sentinel Hill, the Dust Plains, Moonbrook, Demont's Place, the Dagger Hills, and Longshore, a picture marking his return to the zone. Rambleon picked up Thunderbrew there and met the Defias in force for the first time as a real presence — pillagers, messengers, looters, a knuckleduster, pathstalkers, and highwaymen, alongside a riverpaw taskmaster still haunting the farmland. Cassidy, a companion who had turned up again and again across these eleven nights, was with him for this last leg too. No level-up or death is noted for the stretch itself; it simply carries him, at level twenty, deeper into Westfall's troubles, the journal's eleventh night ending there, mid-stride, the Defias Brotherhood still very much unfinished business.
