The comments said my binds were n00b. So I colored every key by how often I press it. They had a point: my hottest keys sat way out past 5. Flip to After for the fix.
Hover or tap any key. On a phone, scroll the keyboard sideways. The score weighs each press: every pull counts 4, most pulls 3, some fights 2, rarely 1.
I read the keybinding guides and forum threads so you don't have to. Five things gave me away.
Arcane Shot and Serpent Sting go out every pull, and they lived on 6 and 8. Skill Capped's key tiers put 6 in C-tier and don't rank 7 through = at all. Forum regulars say the same thing: past 5, you can't press keys and still steer properly.
Turning with the keyboard is the n00b sign everyone spots first. Turn by holding the right mouse button instead, and Q and E become two of the best keys you have. A and D already strafed, so this one was cheap to fix.
R sits right next to W. That's prime real estate for a button you press every pull. Autorun still works on Num Lock.
Attack, Raptor Strike and Mongoose Bite were three separate keys. One macro presses all three, so Mongoose Bite fires whenever it lights up.
Elune's Light is Forever's new Night Elf racial: +10% crit chance for 15 seconds, on a 3 minute cooldown. That's a burst cooldown, not a gimmick. It now sits next to Rapid Fire so I can press both together.
Shadowmeld now drops threat in combat, with a 2 minute cooldown. That makes it worth a key, so it moved off the far end of the Shift row to Shift + C.
Three steps, about fifteen minutes. Change a few keys, play a few pulls, then do the rest. It takes a week or two before the new keys feel natural.
Type /macro, click New, pick any icon (#showtooltip swaps in the real one), paste the text. Then drag each macro onto the slot listed under it. Macro text adapted from the forever-hunter wiki. The aspect swap is the wiki's version too, so try it once out of combat to check it works.
Esc → Options → Keybindings → Action Bar. "Main 6" means Action Button 6; "Bar 2" means Action Bar 2. When you give a key to a new button, the game takes it off the old one. That's why this goes in order.
