The glossary saw the acronyms coming
2004 said
The very first section is a four-page glossary of chat shorthand.
Forever says
Learn a handful and a busy chat channel starts to make sense.
Before it teaches you anything about the game, the guide teaches you to read other players. LFG is looking for group, and LFM is looking for more. WTS and WTB are want to sell and want to buy. PST means send me a private message. DPS is damage per second, a DOT is damage over time, OOM is out of mana, INC is incoming and AFK is away from keyboard.
Places get shortened too. SW is Stormwind, IF is Ironforge, UC is Undercity and TB is Thunder Bluff. VC is Van Cleef, the boss of the Deadmines, so "LFG VC" is someone looking for a group for that dungeon.
Nobody types full sentences in a busy chat channel. These few will get you through your first week.
