WoW Forever Guide Launch November 4

Getting around: no flying, then or now

2004 said

A hearthstone with a one hour cooldown, mage portals at level 40, and zeppelins that are free.

Forever says

No flying mounts. You cross the world on the ground.

The 2004 guide's travel advice is a list of ways to avoid walking. The hearthstone takes you home once an hour, so it tells you to save it. Mages open portals to the cities from level 40. Zeppelins and boats cost nothing, which the book is plainly delighted about.

Blizzard has confirmed that Forever has no flying mounts. Whether the hearthstone cooldown and the portal levels match the book is something Blizzard hasn't said, so for now those belong to 2004 only.

New here?

The world is big on purpose. Getting somewhere is part of the game, and the long way round is how you end up seeing it.
