A mount cost 100 gold in 2004

2004 said

At level 40 you pay 80 gold for the mount and 20 for riding lessons. The fast mount at 60 costs 1,000.

Forever says

The cost moves into riding training, and learning to ride gives you a mount. No official price yet.

The transport section lays it out plainly. Reach level 40, find 80 gold for the animal and another 20 for the lessons. For most players in 2004 that was more money than they had ever held, and the level 60 mount at 1,000 gold was a project for months.

For Forever, Blizzard says the cost sits in the riding training and the mount comes with it. Blizzard has not announced a price or a level. Numbers are going around from people reading the beta's files, and we'll add them here when Blizzard confirms them.

New here?

A mount is the animal you ride to get around faster. Until you have one, you walk. Everywhere.
